Ingress Prime is a mega update of the game we reported there in 2012. After all the success of Pokémon GO, the developer of one of the most successful games in the mobile world, now comes back to revitalize its original game.
In the plot of Ingress, a new type of energy, the Exotic Matter (XM), is discovered. This new feature triggers a series of conflicts between two factions: the “Enlightened” and “The Resistance.” The player must choose one side and actively participate in the combat, using his smartphone as a “weapon” in this virtual and geolocation-based battle.
The struggle between these two factions will be to see who will master the technology based on XM. One side will try to sabotage the other, and both must defend themselves.
If you only know GO Pokémon, Ingress Prime works the same way. The player must tour the real world, collecting the XM material and fighting “portals” of the rival faction. These portals are in more known places. A curiosity is that Pokémon GO practically took all the data of the first version of Ingress. The locations of the Pokémon gyms are exactly where the Ingress portals were.
The major highlight of the Ingress Prime update is a greater use of Augmented Reality. Players now use the camera phone to view XM footage. In addition, a new Youtube web series promises to make things more interesting.
When downloading the game again, Ingress Prime is very reminiscent of the previous version, with a slightly better interface. But there are many more random events and news. According to the producer, the changes are just beginning.
