The Wi-Fi sharing is completely different to the mobile hotspot. If the mobile hotspot is turned ON, we can’t use Wi-Fi on that particular device. But with the Wi-Fi sharing, the user can turn ON both Wi-Fi and mobile hotspot to share the Wi-Fi with other devices. This is the same functionality of the Wi-Fi extenders or repeaters. Apart from the extending the coverage of the Wi-Fi, the Wi-Fi sharing feature on the Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, S7, and S7 Edge comes handy when the number of connections on a particular Wi-Fi is limited.
If you are in an airport lounge, you can connect only one device to the available Wi-Fi network. Then you can connect your latest Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus to premium Wi-Fi and turn ON the Wi-Fi sharing to connect other devices for internet access. Before starting the below-mentioned process to activate the Wi-Fi sharing feature, make sure you have a working Wi-Fi network connected to your device.
How To Turn On Wi-Fi Sharing Feature on Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, S7, and S7 Edge Smartphones:
- Open Settings > Connections > Mobile hotspot and tethering > Mobile hotspot.
- Tap on the Wi-Fi sharing option to enable it.
- You will get a notice informing about the switching of saved Wi-Fi networks without notice. Tap on ‘OK’ to enable the Wi-Fi sharing feature.
- Now, enable the Mobile hotspot to share the existing Wi-Fi network with others.
Apart from enabling the Wi-Fi sharing for the first time, follow the same process as the Mobile hotspot from the next time. While the Wi-Fi sharing feature can be found in all the unlocked units, few carriers have removed this feature from their units. When do you think this Wi-Fi sharing feature will come in handy for you? Lets us know by posting in the comments section below.
