The sad outcome of Marvel Heroes Omega, which ended with the closure of Gazillion, did not bode well in the framework of Disney and the world of video games, however, Mickey Mouse company seems to be willing to regain prominence in the electronic entertainment sector, as they have just signed new collaboration agreements with companies such as Gameloft, Glu, PerBlue and Ludia to develop video games based on some of their great franchises.
Since Disney will close all of its development studies in 2016, the current owner of Marvel and 21st Century Fox started a policy of transferring its brands to external studios, as in the case of Electronic Arts with the Star Wars saga. “We have been working hard to find the right partners and work with studies that have been successful in the past,” said one of Disney’s top officials.
The intention of the company is to strengthen its presence in the market of mobile devices and the PC. For now they have not offered details about the projects in which their new allies work. “The goal is to tackle new genres and reach more platforms, as well as take risks,” they conclude from the firm.
