The Google Pixel 2 and its XL variant are some of the most praised devices in reviews, comparatives and even the DxOMark website, where they have a very high score.
Regarded by many as the best camera on a smartphone today, with the recent arrival of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus – bringing refinements to the already praised photographic skills of Samsung Galaxy S line – we could see in our preliminary comparisons that, Pixel 2 received, finally a competitor to the height.
But apparently the famous US magazine Consumer Reports – which acknowledged that the Galaxy S8 outperforms the iPhone X and 8 in the photography category – has ‘forgotten’ the existence not only of the Pixel 2 / 2XL but also of the Galaxy S9 / S9 Plus.
The list was published the day after the launch of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, and brought the following devices:
- Apple iPhone X
- Apple iPhone 8
- Apple iPhone 8 Plus
- Samsung Galaxy S8 +
- Apple iPhone 7
- Apple iPhone 6s Plus
- Samsung Galaxy S8
- Samsung Galaxy Note8
- Apple iPhone 7 Plus
- Samsung Galaxy S8 Active
Interestingly, as we can see above, it does not bring any model of other brands without being Apple or Samsung – that is, basically only generations of iPhones and Galaxies (taking the S9) were considered.
The most contradictory is that on a Consumer Reports page that talks about Pixel 2, the publication comments that it is “among the best.” (I.e.
That means, it’s good to search right before leaving believing lists of ‘top smartphones’ or ‘top cameras’, even those released by larger publications.
