The Asus announced its first Android smartphone for the games, the Republic of Gamers, or simply ROG Phone. Know all the details of this machine that arrives to dethrone competitors like Black Shark (Xiaomi) and Razer Phone.

How is the ROG Phone?

The ROG Phone has an impressive look and is fully consistent with the entire Republic of Gamers line. A polygonal design that inspires aggression and passes away from soft lines of life iPhones and Galaxy.

But the Asus smartphone goes beyond the aesthetic and holds many interesting and unique surprises. So far, it’s the “smartphone gamer” with more features and extra peripherals.

Putting just the specs on paper, the ROG Phone does not look very interesting. However, there is much more to this device than “RGB lights”.

Asus has put an “overclocked” 845 Snapdragon that is exclusive and runs at 2.96 GHz. According to the manufacturer, the ROG Phone processors are hand-picked for the best performance possible.

Unique design

Appearance “gamer” is something that any manufacturer can do. Is easy! People are so accustomed to the clean and sleek design of iPhones that any device with a more rugged look makes them weird.

But the ROG Phone goes beyond the visual. There are unique hidden functions, and they have been implemented in a way that will make other smartphone gamers blush with shame.

The coolest one is the pressure system. That one to push the smartphone on the sides, which was adopted in Google Pixel 2. In the ROG Phone, this function was implemented to activate the gamer mode, eliminating notifications and distractions.

Appearance “gamer” is something that any manufacturer can do. People are so accustomed to the clean and sleek design of iPhones that any device with a more rugged look makes them weird. Fortunately the ROG Phone goes beyond the visual.

You must be thinking, “So what?” Calm down! have more! The ROG Phone also uses these pressure sensors to add triggers to the side of the smartphone.

The same feature you did with aluminum foil or a plastic trigger that could scratch the screen of your cell phone can be done on the ROG Phone without any hassle. Ideal for shooting games or Battle Royale like PUBG or Fortnite.

As if that were not enough, the ROG Phone comes with a cooling system dubbed “3D vapor-chamber cooling”. It could even go unnoticed, and be regarded as “junk marketing” if it were not ports that allows you to dock a real cooler on your smartphone.

Two USB-C ports on the side!

That alone would be enough to leave behind all Android smartphones “gamers” in the market. But Asus decided to “kick the bucket” and launched a line of peripherals for the ROG Phone. This line is bestially ridiculous and absurd, but shows that Asus did not skimp on ideas.

The thing starts to get really insane when we realize that on the side of the ROG Phone there are two USB-C ports. These ports give connectivity to multiple peripherals.

The first of these is a cooler that can be docked on the back of the smartphone. A very interesting idea, because this cooler also offers a headphone jack and another to recharge the smartphone.

The second peripheral is stranger. The ROG Phone can be docked in a screen case that turns it into a “Nintendo 3DS from another dimension”. In addition to mirroring the screen, you can also set controls (mapping) and even applications running separately (each on a screen).

Gamevice control is somewhat more common. Only one control that can be docked on the smartphone. The connection is via the USB-C port (from the bottom of the device) and no longer uses Bluetooth.

The best is for the end. The ROG Phone has an “F * dona” dock with a large number of ports and connections. The Dock has USB-C ports, HDMI, normal USB, Network Cable and even SD card slot. Thanks to the key mapping it is possible to even use the ROG Phone as a PC gamer.

It’s the price?

How much will the ROG Phone cost? So far has not been disclosed the price, but by the specifications and marketing, which makes a point of saying that it is the fastest Android of the moment, we can expect something very expensive.

I would not be surprised if he goes through a thousand dollars without even peripherals.

It will not be for anyone

For starters, you can not help but laugh at the demo using Free Fire as an example. It would be the same as announcing a PC Gamer and displaying Minecraft in the presentation.

The handset is simply lush and will not come cheap. Some features may outweigh the high price. But it is clear that the proposal here is to reach the competitive gamer of Europe and Asia.

It is worth remembering that the Republic of Gamers line is focused on the consumer with high purchasing power, so it is a bit unfair to compare with cheaper models. The focus of the ROG Phone will be on having few sales, but captive audience.

However, it remains to be seen how the innovations of the ROG Phone in the real world will be. The high price will compensate or is it better to invest in a cheaper smartphone?
